Questions people actually ask.
How long does registration take once I pay?
For .gy names that are not restricted, we typically have the domain live in your account within a few hours of your MMG payment landing. Provisioning itself is instant over the registry's EPP interface. The wait is on us confirming your receipt, which we do by hand so we catch any typos in the reference before pushing the registration through.
What if someone else owns the domain I want?
If the current owner is willing to release it, we can help you transfer it across. If they are not, we cannot take a registered domain from its owner. That said, if the domain has expired or is in pending-delete status we can usually pick it up the day it drops. Tell us the name you are watching and we will monitor it for you.
I already have a .gy domain with someone else. Can I move it here?
Yes. Inbound transfers are free. You need two things: the auth-info code from your current registrar, and at least 60 days between your last registration or transfer and today. Email us with the domain name and your auth code and we will handle the rest. The domain keeps working throughout the transfer, assuming the nameservers stay the same.
Can I register multiple domains at once?
For now, yes, but one at a time through the checker. We are adding a bulk order form for agencies and larger businesses. If you need to register more than ten domains in one go, email [email protected] and we will send you a spreadsheet template and a single invoice.
What happens at renewal? Will the price jump?
No teaser rates. The renewal price is the same as the price you paid at registration. If the registry ever raises wholesale fees, we will let you know in writing 60 days before your renewal with the option to transfer out. That has not happened in the history of the .gy registry but we are being explicit about it.
Do you support DNSSEC and the newer DNS features?
Yes. DNSSEC is enabled by default at the registry. If you use our recommended Cloudflare nameservers, you get signed DNSSEC chains, CAA records, DNS-over-HTTPS and modern TLS certificate issuance out of the box. You can still bring your own nameservers if you prefer.
Are my personal details public?
No. WHOIS privacy is on by default for every registration. Only your registrar name (OEsupplies) and the technical contact for abuse notices appear in public WHOIS. Your own phone, email and address are held by the registry in the EU and only released on a court order or legitimate law-enforcement request.
What payment methods do you accept right now?
Mobile Money Guyana (MMG) at the moment, paid to 640-6900. We are wiring up GBTI bank transfer and card payments through Stripe so customers outside Guyana can check out in USD. For now, if you are paying from abroad, email us and we will send you a wire quote in USD.
Can I get an invoice in the business's name?
Yes. Tell us the business's legal name and TIN when you place the order and we will issue a proper GRA-compliant invoice. If you need the invoice before you pay for a procurement cycle, email [email protected] with the domain, duration and billing details.
What if I change my mind?
The .gy registry operates a 5-day Add Grace Period. If you register a domain and decide within five days that you did not want it, we can delete it and refund your payment less any MMG fees we have already paid. After day six, the registration is locked in for the full term.
